Workshop A: Follow the Yellow Brick Road to Student Success: Guidance from the Wizard of Oz
Wednesday, September 17 | 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
This engaging and interactive workshop will guide participants along the yellow brick road to learn about effective approaches to enhance student engagement and success and improve program outcomes. Through engaging workshop activities, participants will take guidance from the land of Oz and suggest practical “brain, heart, and courage” strategies that can help students succeed while enhancing nursing program outcomes. Outcomes such as completion rates, licensure or certification pass rates, employment rates, and satisfaction will be examined. In addition to offering brain, heart, and courage strategies, the workshop will discuss how to avoid the pitfalls to student success. Join us as we follow the yellow brick road to student success. At the completion of the workshop the participant will:
- Identify key factors that impact nursing student success.
- Examine academic and psychosocial issues that impact program outcomes.
- Propose effective strategies to enhance student engagement, success and program outcomes.
- Discuss pitfalls to student success including how to avoid them.
