8F: Preparing Prelicensure Nursing Students for a Changing Climate: A Dual-Cohort Hurricane Disaster Drill
Friday, September 25 | 2:30 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.
Climate change is increasing the frequency and severity of extreme weather-related events, creating an urgent need for a nursing workforce capable of effectively responding. An interprofessional dual-cohort hurricane disaster drill was implemented to provide immersive experiential learning. This approach develops disaster management competencies and affective learning, including empathy and psychosocial assessment skills.
