7C: Evaluating Students’ Competency in an Assessment and Clinical Skills Course

Thursday, September 18 | 4:00 - 4:45 p.m.

This presentation highlights an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) as an exemplary model for advancing competency-based education (CBE) in nursing education. Using a scaffolded approach to prepare first semester undergraduate nursing students for a competency-based evaluation, every student was able to demonstrate competency in the care of an adult patient by the conclusion of an assessment and clinical skills course.
