1C: Antiracism Assignments: Empowering Students as Advocates for Healthcare Equity
Wednesday, September 17 | 2:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m.
This presentation highlights strategies for teaching nursing students to become proactive bystanders in addressing racial discrimination and advocating for patients in clinical settings. Using competency-based assignments and low-fidelity in-class simulations, educators can help students reflect on biases, challenge stereotypes, and build essential skills in empathy, communication, cultural humility, and advocacy within a safe, supportive environment.
