8J: Beyond the Book: Moving from The Conversation to Transformation
Friday, September 19 | 2:30 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.
How do we move beyond discussion and into meaningful action in nursing education? In this interactive session, we will explore strategies for translating insights from the NLN Teaching to Transform book club into concrete practices that foster equity and justice in nursing education. Using case-based discussions, reflective exercises, and practical application strategies, participants will engage in critical reflection, collaborative problem-solving, and action planning to apply their learning in real-world educational settings. By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Synthesize key insights from the Teaching to Transform book club, applying them to real-world challenges in nursing education.
- Engage in critical reflection on barriers to equity-centered teaching and strategies for fostering brave spaces in classrooms and clinical settings.
- Develop an action plan for integrating transformative teaching practices that move beyond discussion into sustainable change within their institutions.
Whether you’ve been part of the NLN Teaching to Transform book club or are new to the conversation, this session will provide an opportunity to connect, share insights, and explore how we can collectively transform nursing education to advance equity and justice.
