2D: Fishbowl debate for competency based education in the nursing policy course
Wednesday, September 18 | 3:00 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.
A fishbowl discussion is a competency-based teaching strategy that engages students in exploring complex issues for which there are multiple perspectives. We use this teaching strategy in a course for graduate students to discuss perspectives about health policy. Students read a real-life case study and are divided into groups representing different perspectives. Fishbowl discussions will engage students in higher level thinking about ethical perspectives related to health policy.
