8D: When The Server is Down: Preparing Students for Impending EHR Downtime

The uptick in cataclysmic events has increased healthcare’s reliance on EHRs. Involve all stakeholders. Millennial and Gen Z students engage in solution-driven activities. The faculty has expertise in electronic health records. Let’s start with what we know: creating barcode-scanning workarounds, communication, and flowsheets on paper to prepare students for the “What if the computers aren’t working?” scenario.
