6I: XR Family Avatars Reveal SDOH & Promote Empathy in Patient Rescue Scenarios
Thursday, September 24 | 3:00 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.
This session introduces an XR simulation featuring a family-member avatar who shares a video message after a patient deterioration event, revealing key social determinants of health. By blending AI, XR, biosensors, and family context, the design promotes empathy, highlights non-biomedical contributors to decline, and strengthens equity-centered, culturally responsive care.
