5C: Skills: Teaching to Competency for the Generalist Nurse

Thursday, September 19 | 2:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m.

The debate about which skills are necessary for the new graduate to competently demonstrate is not new, often focusing on skills relating to affective domains. There is little consensus concerning essential psychomotor skills. This presentation will discuss the continued debate and a sneak peak into a multi-site study that aims to identify a list of essential psychomotor skills to inform pre-licensure nursing programs which skills to teach and assess for a generalist nurse to a competency level.
