Dr. Jared Kutzin

DNP, MS, MPH, RN, FSSH, FAAN

Jared is an associate professor of emergency medicine and medical education at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and senior director of the Simulation, Teaching, and Research Center at The Mount Sinai Hospital. He is a registered nurse with advanced degrees in health policy and management, public health, leadership, and medical education.


His advanced training includes completing the Clinical Quality Fellowship Program (CQFP) offered by the Greater New York Hospital Association and the United Hospital Fund and the Comprehensive Patient Safety Leadership Fellowship (CPSLF) offered by the National Patient Safety Foundation and American Hospital Association. Jared is certified in health care quality (CPHQ), patient safety (CPPS), simulation operations (CHSOS), and as a Nurse Executive – Advanced (NEA-BC). He has been inducted as a fellow in the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) Academy and the American Academy of Nursing.



Dr. Kutzin has disseminated his work through presentations at international meetings, award winning publications, and peer-reviewed journals. He is the editor of the Comprehensive Healthcare Simulation Textbook: Nursing Edition, deputy editor for MedEdPORTAL, and has planned, implemented, and evaluated novel educational methodologies over the past two decades. He has been honored as a Master Educator by the Mount Sinai Institute for Medical Education and as Educator of the Year by SSH. A current member of the NYS Board of Nursing and NYS EMS Council, Jared has served as a member of the SSH Board of Directors since 2022 and is the current president-elect of SSH.
