Since 2009, Hege has been the Principal Investigator of several large international research and development projects related to the day of birth and implementation of simulation-based learning to improve quality of care and patient outcomes – both in low- and high-resource settings.
In the Safer Births program, she has supervised 16 completed PhDs and is currently supervising around 20 PhDs from both low-and high income countries. She has published around 130 research papers in peer-reviewed international journals.
Hege is a Professor in Simulation and Global Health, Stavanger University Hospital and University of Stavanger, with a PhD in International Health from the University of Oslo, Norway. She is a trained Anaesthesiologist and Leader of the Critical Care and Anaesthesiology Research Group, Stavanger, Norway.
