The nurse faculty shortage has placed an emphasis on interventions such as mentoring for retention and development of nurse faculty. Experienced nurse faculty mentors are a vital resource in the mentoring of novice nurse faculty, yet little is known about the institutional factors that facilitate mentoring relationships. This qualitative content analysis reports specific institutional factors that support and hinder mentoring relationships from the perspectives of nurse faculty mentors.
